I have been reading numerous accounts of 'Christians' being assaulted, beaten, imprisoned, and murdered and I am reminded of this Scripture ~
Acts 19:11-16, "God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:
So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.
Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.
And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.
And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?
And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded...".
Maybe those professing to know the Lord Jesus need to 'examine themselves'..
2 Corinthians 13:5, "Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves...". It may be that Christians are putting themselves in harms way with their religiosity. That is, taking strength from their supposed 'status' in Christ, when their heart is not right with God!
1 Corinthians 11:28-32, " But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world."
MANY hearts are not right with God, even though they may not realize the gravity of their predicament.
SEEK the Lord and He will direct your paths and correct your thinking.
Luke 21:36, "Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man".
