A More Excellent Way

If our journey through life is compared to a maze, we tend to rail against the boundaries and we sometimes get stuck as we make our way to the goal. But we keep trying, and eventually, we find our way out. A lot of people in this present age have called for the removal of the boundaries, thinking that without them there would be no obstructions and that the goal would be easier to obtain. But, it doesn't work that way, instead of being easier to reach the goal some wander aimlessly having lost all direction, and some fall off the board altogether. The goal becomes just a point in time. Turns out that those annoying boundaries are essential in directing us to the way out, and ridding ourselves of them is a big mistake.
The Bible speaks about life being a maze. The words "now we see through a glass darkly" describe a conundrum…a maze. What we are experiencing in this life is a riddle. It's fuzzy. We would like to see clearly…to understand, but we cannot. God has put boundaries in place that frustrate our plans. We are funneled through life anyway like it or not. But there is a better way, a "more excellent way" that can be applied to life. Contrary to popular belief it's not attained by throwing off restraint, but by believing that God knows the way and that we can trust Him to navigate the maze. Every boundary is designed to protect us and others…that's love. And love is the more excellent way. When we understand that, we understand the rest, that God is at work and we can relax. We don't have to engage in the struggle that so many people are entangled with day by day. We don't have to fight God, we don't have to try and remove the boundaries! If we love Him and we love each other (doing the right thing for our family and neighbors), the light comes on and we can see! Life begins to make sense.
We live in a society that has done nothing else over the last century than to try and get rid of God's boundaries. More recently, it seems that they have succeeded in calling up, down; good, bad; right, wrong; and in trying to undermine and redefine everything that God has said and done. And He has let them do it. He 'chooses their delusions'. But in the ensuing chaos we have destroyed our children. They are the fallout. They have to deal with the outcome of the decisions made by their elders. We, could not as adults, deal with life as it was, but they as children are left to deal with a whole new world without rules or direction or help. They blindly feel about for an anchor, or float somewhere beneath the board in confusion and hopelessness. A once reasonable goal has receded into oblivion. What was simple is not bearable. They are left in a fearful world without boundaries, worse than any maze. They are asked to comprehend the burdens of adulthood while encouraged to remain children in every practical way. Too many simply take their own lives, and sometimes they take the lives of others as well.
When will this Nation repent? Stay in the maze! Let the old boundaries suffice. Trust in God's order and that He knows how to get you to the end. This society is not going to get better. They are characterized by lawlessness, hubris, and ignorance. They have become blind leaders of the blind. But, although God has given us space to repent, the warnings are everywhere that that space is about to close. The Enemy has not left off in trying to coerce us all into their way of thinking. They are pounding down the door and are willing to stop at nothing to have their way. The interesting thing is that God says they will have it. So, no utopia is coming until the Lord Jesus sets up His Kingdom. All those that side with Him need to understand what is coming. Gird up your loins, put up the shield of faith, trust that He knows the way, and don't take your eyes off of Him.
